Old business:

It was approved to change meeting date of the annual membership meeting to March 28, 2006, 7:00 p.m. at Carl Junction Senior Center. A meat tray will be ordered from Deem’s Family Foods. Ginger Hayes will contact Senior Center to reserve date.

New Business:

The City Wide Yard Sale date is Saturday, April 1, 2006. The city wide clean up will be the following Saturday, April 8. During this clean-up the city will be accepting tires, paint etc at the city’s maintenance shed on Joplin Street. The city continues to pick up leaves with appointment due to the existing burn ban.

The 6th annual Community and School Awards Banquet will be held May 25, 2006, 6:30 p.m. at the Carl Junction High School. A theme will be decided at later date. The committee is seeking ideas for new award categories. In the past the Community Development Committee has paid for the community awards plaques. That committee is no longer in existence so our chamber will pay for those plaques as well as the school award plaques.

Phillip reported the Carl Junction School is discussing initiating a Hall of Fame. The school is naming the main High School hall, Alumni Hall and will place alumni pictures on the walls.

Lisa reported a few of the new members have stated they would be interested in hosting a Business after Hours. Karen Fritchey volunteered to head a “Social Committee” to co-ordinate those and other social events.

A discussion was held on the possibility of a way of placing temporary banners on the City’s large Carl Junction sign at entrance off Highway 171. Joe will contact Sign Designs to see if that can be done.

Some of the existing business banners placed along Pennell need repaired. Joe will contact Sign Designs who is contracted to keep them in repair.

Nominations are needed for 3 additional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Possible candidates are urged to contact Walter Hayes.

With no further business the meeting adjourned.
