Meeting was opened by Walter Hayes.
April minutes were approved as read; Lisa 1st, Duane 2nd.
Treasurer’s report approved; Lisa 1st, Elaine 2nd.
Lisa reported on the Awards Banquet. Date is Thursday, May 25, 2006. OOPA will do catering. Tickets will cost $10 each. The chamber will pay for tickets for all nominees and one guest. The Chamber will purchase all plaques including the teacher awards. Jayne reported decorating will be done the day of the banquet and no extra help is needed.
Phil reported on the teacher nominations. To date there has been 9 entries submitted for the Elementary and Secondary teacher awards. One of these teachers will be selected as a nominee for the Missouri State Teacher of the Year award. He is putting together a prize package for the winner.
Karen reported there will be no Business after Hours held in May due to so many school activities. “Girlfriends” is planning a Business after Hours on July 20, 2006.
Lisa reported the Board of Directors has approved the following donations from the Chamber’s Youth fund.
1) Destination Imagination Teams: $150.00 per team (9 teams)
2) National History Day: $50 per child (4 children)
Jayne reported the CJ Cultivators Club has requested the Chamber to change their date for the annual Spring City Wide Yard Sale to the last Saturday of April in order to co-inside with their annual plant sale. Since the city wide trash pick-up is always the first Saturday after the yard sales, Mike Moss, CJ Mayor, was asked if the trash company would agree to the change which would be the first Saturday in May? He thought the trash company would have no problem with the change and agreed to report the change to the city clerk so she could notify the trash company. Roy made motion to approve the change, 2nd by Karen and motion carried.
Phil reported on the CJ Springfield Cardinal Baseball night, July 11, 2006. 470 tickets have been sold to date. Those tickets will be distributed the end of May.
Lisa distributed the 2006 Chamber of Commerce Committees. Contact her if anyone wishes to be added or deleted.
