Southwest Missouri Bank received 1st place in the Commercial category and they donated their winnings of $50.00 back to the Chamber’s Christmas fund.

Jayne reported the Holiday Home Tour on Dec. 2 went well, however ticket count was down.  Net proceeds were donated to the CJ Choir towards their trip to New York.

Rob Plott of Choice Marketing reported the new CJ directory has been submitted to the printers and will be done by year end.  It will be increased to 20 pages instead of the initial 16 as planned.

Jerry asked if it will be possible to place this on the Chamber’s web site.  Robert Ames stated it would be possible.   So he will work it out with Rob Plott.

The annual meeting for election of Officers will be held in March, 2007.  Exact date will be chosen at the Jan. meeting.

Lisa reported on the following dates for school activities:
       Dec. 12, 2006 – 1st Grade Christmas program
       Dec. 15, 2006 – Blood drive
Dec. 17, 2006 – High School choir Christmas program

Applications for Boys and Girls State to be held in June 2007 have been given to Anne Nicolas, CJ Economics teacher.   Lisa will ask the 2006 winner to speak at our annual meeting in March.

Jim reported the Carl Junction Shop with A Cop will be held Dec. 16 at the Joplin 15th Street Wal-Mart.  About 120 children attended in 2005 and about same number are expected this year.

Jim has talked to MODOT about the sign to entrance of Carl Junction just off Hwy 171.  They will send someone out to look at sign to see if an auxiliary sign is feasible.

Jim distributed the new CJ logo pins to each present.

The city is beginning a Business Retention survey through the Work Force Investment Board.  Their plans are to meet with each business owner to discuss their needs and current situation.

A 125 year anniversary committee is being formed and more volunteers are needed to help develop programs and activity dates.  A 125 year logo has been chosen and pins will be made at later date.

Duane stated he had received a memo from President Walter Hayes that MODOT is willing to send someone to speak to the Chamber.   It was decided that it was not necessary at this time.   MODOT is doing a feasibility study on re-routing Z Highway from Roney St. to Main St. in downtown CJ.

Lisa stated the school has received a grant that would expire in 3 years that could be used for sidewalks along Pennell.  Jim & Steve thought this could certainly be used for that purpose.  The school will need to contact the city officials about this project.

With no further business the meeting adjourned.
